KHTH Radio 002 Halloween

Hello and welcome to KHTH Radio. My name is Carlton and I’m in charge of the music, guests here at the hotel enjoy throughout the lobby and the many common areas of the property.

Before presenting today’s playlist I would like to thank the hotel management for bringing to my attention that I have been remiss in a few of my duties. I do apologize for the delay since our last show. Time in this dimension does not always align itself with that of the mortal world.

As October approaches we here at the Hotel can’t help but turn our thoughts back to Halloween night 1939. It is hard to believe that we’ve been here for 73 years. To celebrate we will once again be holding a party in the Tip Top club. We have received many RSVPs and one regret. It should come to no one’s surprise that Bess has once again decided to hold yet another Séance in the hotel’s lobby as she still hopes to contact her departed husband who pasted away over 80 years ago. If she would only take a moment to check the hotels registry she would learn that Harry retired here and is staying in room 926. Still unwilling to contact his obsessed wife, Harry will be attending the party.

Something our mortal guests may not be aware of is that often your loss is our gain. There are many celebrities, especially musicians who have departed your world and have joined us here. Many enjoy performing for our captive audience and we enjoy listening to some of the post 1939 music out there. Although none of us seem to enjoy this thing called Rap. To be quite honest most of us don’t care for much of anything post 1950’s but that’s enough of my ramblings for now. What follows is a selection of some of my favorite Halloween music. Do enjoy.

Intro backing track: Theme from 1931’s Dracula (Swan Lake)
A storm mixed with a few Tower of Terror effects.
Spooks: Louis Armstrong
Swingin' at the Séance: Johnny Long Orchestra
The Ghost of Smokey Joe: Cab Calloway
Old Witch Old Witch: Burl Ives
Wobblin' Goblin: Janet Lennon
Punky Punkin: Rosemary Clooney
The Ghost Song: Salty Holmes
The Headless Horseman: Kay Starr
Closing backing track: Dark Shadows

Carlton here again. Thanking you for listening to the program. As I close today’s show I’d like to wish all of those running in the Hotels 10 mile run this year all the best and if you’re listening to this afterward I do hope you had a marvelous time. I look forward to joining you out on the course next year.

A Word From The Management.

To our dearly departed guests and to those of you among the living,

It has been brought to our attention that the hotel’s door man, Carlton, has been absent these past nine months. As a result his shared duties of programming the lobby radio playlist and updating weekly announcements’ have suffered.

We are dreadfully sorry about this. Let it be known that Delbert Grady from our sister resort in Colorado has paid Carlton a visit and the situation has been “corrected.”

Delbert has asked me to apologize to the hotel staff for not staying with us longer but he had to rush back to the Overlook to advise a Mr. Torrance on “correcting” his family.

As part of Carlton’s “correction” he will be resuming his required duties post haste and he has been instructed to train for the hotel’s annual 10 mile run in September of 2013.

Carlton is also “expected” to produce a Halloween episode for the Hollywood Tower Radio Podcast.

Post script: As our newsletter went to press Mr. Grady called with an update regarding Mr. Torrance. Apparently he passed away and will soon be joining us here on staff as our new caretaker.

Again we offer our apologies and we look forward to serving you here and in the hereafter.

*Update it has been brought to our attention that the commentary of Mr. Grady expressed in the video capture below contains a derogatory racial slur. We at the Hollywood Tower Hotel wish to express that this does not reflect the views of management. We do however believe in free speech and not presenting things out of context, such as many of the politician we know are found to do.
However, that being said,  we are appalled that such language was uttered on the floor of one of our fine establishments. Mr. Grady shall be "corrected"
