Hello and welcome to KHTH Radio. My name is Carlton and I’m in charge of the music, guests here at the hotel enjoy throughout the lobby and the many common areas of the property.
Before presenting today’s playlist I would like to thank the hotel management for bringing to my attention that I have been remiss in a few of my duties. I do apologize for the delay since our last show. Time in this dimension does not always align itself with that of the mortal world.
As October approaches we here at the Hotel can’t help but turn our thoughts back to Halloween night 1939. It is hard to believe that we’ve been here for 73 years. To celebrate we will once again be holding a party in the Tip Top club. We have received many RSVPs and one regret. It should come to no one’s surprise that Bess has once again decided to hold yet another Séance in the hotel’s lobby as she still hopes to contact her departed husband who pasted away over 80 years ago. If she would only take a moment to check the hotels registry she would learn that Harry retired here and is staying in room 926. Still unwilling to contact his obsessed wife, Harry will be attending the party.
Something our mortal guests may not be aware of is that often your loss is our gain. There are many celebrities, especially musicians who have departed your world and have joined us here. Many enjoy performing for our captive audience and we enjoy listening to some of the post 1939 music out there. Although none of us seem to enjoy this thing called Rap. To be quite honest most of us don’t care for much of anything post 1950’s but that’s enough of my ramblings for now. What follows is a selection of some of my favorite Halloween music. Do enjoy.
Intro backing track: Theme from 1931’s Dracula (Swan Lake)
A storm mixed with a few Tower of Terror effects.
Spooks: Louis Armstrong
Swingin' at the Séance: Johnny Long Orchestra
The Ghost of Smokey Joe: Cab Calloway
Old Witch Old Witch: Burl Ives
Wobblin' Goblin: Janet Lennon
Punky Punkin: Rosemary Clooney
The Ghost Song: Salty Holmes
The Headless Horseman: Kay Starr
Closing backing track: Dark Shadows
Carlton here again. Thanking you for listening to the program. As I close today’s show I’d like to wish all of those running in the Hotels 10 mile run this year all the best and if you’re listening to this afterward I do hope you had a marvelous time. I look forward to joining you out on the course next year.
